Working with Schools
With the Connexions service soon to be drastically reduced in many regions, and with schools taking a lead role in the provision of careers Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), ensuring that students can access information about Apprenticeships is crucial. RTT Group spends a great deal of time establishing links with local schools to ensure that its Apprenticeship reach can extend to as many young people as possible and wherever suitable.
Our Learner Engagement Consultants (LECs) offer their services to local schools so that students and teachers alike have someone to turn to for proper guidance about what our Apprenticeships involve. Whether this be through attending careers evenings, holding group sessions, or helping with interview skills workshops, the LECs try to ensure that students are both informed and prepared should they choose an Apprenticeship as their path to future progression.
Our work with schools is focused on the provision of clear and honest information to students. Helping students decide where to turn after full time education comes to an end is a responsibility that a school rightly holds. We hope to compliment this by making our Apprenticeship information available and accessible through our LECs.
Today's students do face a number of challenges, but behind every challenge is an opportunity and an Apprenticeship is certainly one of them. Clearly not all students will choose to find work or attain a qualification through an Apprenticeship, but for those that are keen to forge their own way in life and secure their first step on what is currently a crowded career ladder, work based learning can be an ideal solution.
RTT Group is able to help in this respect and it is the role of our LECs to provide the initial information that allows a young person to decide for themselves whether an Apprenticeship is the right path for them.

Your questions answered
Any interaction with students will only be with the full guidance and co-operation of teaching staff. In the first instance, our Learner Engagement Consultants (LECs) would wish to meet with you to introduce themselves and discuss how you would prefer our information to be made available.
No. We do not charge for any of our services. Our relationships with schools are purely to inform your students of Apprenticeships as one of the options available to them.
Most of our work with schools is centred around group talks, drop-in sessions, and careers evenings. However, our focus is on helping young people, and our LECs are just as willing to do things like Interview Coaching Workshops, or mock interviews to help students in a more generic sense. If you think we can help in this way too, we would be happy to lend our expertise.
Our focus is simply to help your students make informed decisions about what path to follow after leaving school. We do not consider our Apprenticeships to be an alternative to school study and will never encourage a student to leave school during their qualifications. Naturally though, a small proportion of students do choose to leave full time study to find work, and we would do our best to help you avoid them falling into the NEET register, but this should only be after a great deal of thought and consultation.
Not all students will be interested in an Apprenticeship and may have always held other ambitions. When meeting with our LEC this could be discussed, and it may be that a select group is chosen who have shown prior interest, instead of presenting to an entire year group. We want to ensure that our information is of value to those that receive it. Even if a student doesn't wish to do an Apprenticeship, we may still be able to help with interview skills etc, whichever path they choose.
